Unit 6

– Visual Sport Content

For Unit 6, the focus of the assignment was to develop and demonstrate video production skills. This involved planning, filming, and editing different types of video content while following professional production practices.

Throughout the project I worked with different filming setups, including multi-camera interviews, single-camera shoots, and mobile phone video production. The aim was to demonstrate strong technical skills in camera work, framing, lighting, editing, and storytelling.

The final project includes multiple edited videos as well as pre-production planning documents that show the full process from planning to final production.

Final Video Productions

Below are the final videos produced during this unit.

Planning Documents

Before filming, I completed several pre-production documents to plan the shoot and ensure everything ran smoothly.

Project Evaluation

Framing and Composition

When evaluating my video work, I focused on how well the shots were composed. I ensured that the framing followed the rule of thirds, allowing the subject to be positioned intentionally within the frame.

I also paid attention to headroom, making sure the subject did not appear cramped or “squashed” at the top of the frame.

The overall framing aimed to feel balanced, with attention given to background elements to avoid distractions such as objects appearing directly behind the subject’s head.

Lighting and Contrast

Lighting played an important role in creating a professional look. I adjusted the lighting to make sure the subject was clearly visible and separated from the background.

I focused on maintaining enough contrast so that the subject stood out from the surrounding environment. Exposure was also adjusted so that details in clothing and facial features remained clear without appearing overly bright or dark.

Shadows were controlled carefully so that the subject’s face remained the main focus of the shot.

Scene Dressing and Depth

The set and background elements were arranged to create a sense of depth within the shot. By placing objects at different distances from the camera, the scene appeared more visually interesting and less flat.

Relevant visual elements were also included in the background to support the theme of the video and give context to the interview or subject.

Multi-Camera Editing

For the multi-camera interview shoot, I ensured that the wide shot established the full scene and the relationship between the interviewer and interviewee.

The close-up shots were used to capture more emotion and detail, helping make the interview feel more engaging and personal.

During editing, I switched between camera angles at natural points in the conversation so that the final video felt smooth and professional.
