Risk Assessment
Location: Recording Room / Studio
People Involved: Interviewee, camera operator(s), crew
Lighting Equipment
Hazards:
- Lights may become hot during use
- Risk of burns if touched
- Trip hazard from light stands and cables
Who is at risk:
Crew, interviewee
Control Measures:
- Lights positioned securely on stable stands
- Crew informed not to touch lights during or immediately after filming
- Lights switched off and allowed to cool before moving
- Cables taped down using gaffer tape to prevent tripping
Camera Equipment
Hazards:
- Trip hazard from tripods and camera placement
- Risk of equipment falling if knocked
Who is at risk:
Crew, interviewee
Control Measures:
- Tripods fully extended and locked
- Cameras placed away from main walkways
- No running in the studio
- Only trained crew allowed to adjust cameras
Electrical cables & Power supplies
Hazards:
- Trip hazard from loose cables
- Electrical hazard if cables are damaged
Who is at risk:
Everyone in the room
Control Measures:
- All cables neatly routed around the edges of the room
- Cables taped down where they cross walkways
- Equipment checked before use for damaged cables
- No liquids allowed near electrical equipment
Black curtain backdrop & Shirt stand
Hazards:
- Curtain or stand falling over
- Trip hazard from stands behind the subject
Who is at risk:
Interviewee, crew
Control Measures:
- Curtain stand secured and checked before filming
- Shirt stand placed at a safe distance behind the interviewee
- Area behind the interviewee kept clear and not walked through during recording

Camera equipment
- Camera A (Main camera – head-on shot)
- Camera B (Secondary camera – angled shot)
- 2 × Tripods (one per camera)
- Camera batteries (fully charged)
- SD cards / memory cards (formatted)
Lighting equipment
- 1 × Large Key Light (Softbox)
(Positioned behind Camera A, facing the interviewee) - 1 × Blue back light for interviewee
- 1 × Blue light to illuminate academy shirt
Audio equipment
- (clip-on) microphone
- Headphones (for monitoring audio levels)
- Spare batteries (if required)
Set & Props
- High chair (for interviewee)
- Black curtain backdrop
- Academy shirt
- Shirt stand/mannequin stand
Power & Accessories
- Extension leads
- Multi-plug extension
